Obituary of Lola Harden Duncan

Lola Duncan, 99 of Ocala, Florida passed away on May 22, 2024. She was born on October 11, 1924, to the late Warren Lee and Lillie Pearl Croxton Harden in Hyland Home, Alabama. She attended Business College in Montevallo, Alabama and during the war worked at Maxwell Airforce Base in Montgomery, Alabama. After the war she moved to Memphis, Tennessee and worked for Eastern Airlines. On February 5, 1946, she married Luther Pitts Duncan, Sr, and the couple moved to Palmyra, Virgina and in 1968 the family finally settled in Ocala, Florida. Lola was a homemaker throughout her married life and enjoyed being around her family. She was a member of First Christian Church and enjoyed being active within her church community. Lola is preceded in death by her parents Warren Lee and Lillie Pearl Croxton Harden, beloved husband Luther Pitts Duncan, Sr. and son Luther Pitts Duncan, Jr., and sister Leola Walden. She is survived by her son, Bill (Reah) Duncan; daughter in law, Karen Duncan; grandchildren Deena (Jack) Hoyt, Jason Duncan, Chad Duncan and Kevin Duncan; great-grandchildren Cody, Caleb, Kynlee, Dawson, Conner, Amanda, Kayleigh, Michael (Ocean) and great-great granddaughter Orianna. Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dr. John Holcomb officiating at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services. Burial with be private at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Ocala or Hospice of Marion County.
