Obituary of Christine Bishop
Christine Bishop, 79, of The Villages, Florida passed away at Brandley House in Summerfield on April 30, 2024. She was born November 6, 1944, the daughter of the Ellen Jane Mygatt Beaver and William Kendal “Shorty” Beaver. Chris was born in Gallipolis, Ohio.
Christine is survived by her loving husband, Kim Eugene Bishop; their children Claudine Liedel(Michael) and John Rees (Ana); grandchildren Carolyn, Madeline, Francisco and Julio; her sister Linda Cottrell(Larry), and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother Bertha Leonette Denny Mygatt Archer, and her brother William “Ron” Beaver.
Chris was an incredible human being, with a heart that reached out to all people. She was a great judge of people and character. She was outgoing, but if you asked her, she would tell you she was shy. In her teen years she taught swimming and was a lifeguard. All her life she sang in choirs, but also led children’s choirs in multiple churches. As a deacon in the Presbyterian church her duties included home visitation and visiting members in nursing care. She was never one to be told “that’s not possible”, Chris would work until she helped anyone or group where she saw a need.
Chris was an avid reader and created or joined book clubs. She loved the arts and always wished she had studied more art history in college. Because of her love of the arts, she created a non-profit business to teach elementary students art history and music.
For most of her working life she was a legal secretary and quickly became indispensable wherever she worked. But her family always came first. Her love made the people around her better.
The memorial service will be held at North Lake Presbyterian Church (975 Rolling Acres Rd, Lady Lake, FL 32159) on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 11:00am, with a reception after. The Inurnment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Waterford, Michigan, at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Lake Presbyterian Church for the Church Camp. These donations will act as a scholarship, in Christines’ name, to aid in sending children to church camp.
