Obituary of Richard Lee Teaster

Richard Lee Teaster, 79, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Select Medical Specialty Hospital in Oxford, Florida.  He was born on September 15, 1944 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Samuel and Mildred (Harvey) Teaster.  He worked for AT&T when he retired, and had worked for the telephone company for 36 years.  He was a Navy veteran. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Karen (Williams) Teaster of Ocala, Florida, his daughters, Tammy Jo Teaster of Kansas and Jennifer Rose (Teaster) Hadley of Kansas, his son, Joseph Samuel Lee Teaster of California, stepdaughter, Brooke Allison (Keys) Farrington of California, Stepson, Dr. Bradley Ryan Keys of St. Thomas, USVI; grandchildren/stepgrandchildren, Ashlee Crosby-Teaster, Peyton Siegmann, Ayla Farrington, Joey Teaster, Jamison Hadley, Lily Farrington, Paige Hadley and Tiberius Keys.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred (Harvey) Teaster, his father, Samuel Teaster, his stepmother, Jean (McNutt) Teaster, his sisters, Charlotte (Teaster) Brooks and Frances (Teaster) Dorrycott, and his stepbrother, Don McNutt. 

The family will receive friends for a celebration of life at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, Florida on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 6:00-7:00pm.  Funeral services will be directly following the celebration at 7:00pm, beginning with military honors by the VFW and officiating by Ryan Egbert from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Interment will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetary in Bushnell, Florida.  Memorials may be made to the VFW.
