Obituary of Mary A. (Huber) Carter

Mary A. (Huber) Carter, 83, of Summerfield, Sunset Harbor, passed away on April 24, 2024, after a long struggle with dementia.

She was born on February 14, 1941, to Donald and Vadonna Huber in Belvidere, Illinois.

Mary was a member of Epsilon Rho Sorority of Belleview for many years. She worked for the city of Belleview before securing a job with Roy Realty, which led to her earning her real estate license. In 1983 she began working for the Marion County School Board in the guidance office at Lake Weir Middle School until she retired in 2008.

Her passions included attending Florida State home football games with close friends, traveling, and camping in an RV with family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Vadonna Huber, and her son Steven Strate.

She is survived by her husband Thomas “Eddie” Carter, daughter-in-law Mickey Strate, two daughters; Pam (Rusty) Dosh, and Kim (Bob) Hutchinson; eight grandchildren Ashley Strate, Megan Plogger, Danica Strate, Brandy (Phil) Schiess, Ryan Plogger, Stuart Hutchinson, Reiley (Jake) Lolmaugh, Annie Dosh, and twelve great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Mary’s life will take place at a later date.
