Obituary of Eugene "Gene" Wacks

Eugene “Gene” Wacks 88 passed away on March 17, 2024 in Ocala, Florida. He was born in Harlan, Kentucky on December 22, 1935 to the late Pearl Hensley and Annie Cornett. 

He graduated from high school in his hometown of Harlan.  He was a member of the Howard Masonic Lodge in Baxter, Kentucky.  He learned the craft of typesetter and printing at Enterprise Publishing in Harlan.  His printing career included The Western Star in Lebanon, Ohio, The Cincinatti Enquirer and the Ocala, Star Banner.  Gene received awards as an outstanding employee. 

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Barney and Harold Wacks. 

He is survived by Connie Hart, Lori Houghton, Diana Kauffman, Rebecca Anspach and Deborah Elsea. 

A Graveside service will take place at 12:00 pm Noon on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Highland Memorial Park 1515 NE 3rd Ave, Ocala, Florida 34470
