I am saddened at the passing of my lifelong dear friend, Gene, or "Euge" as we called him. Our family moved next door to the Talarek's in 1942, and remained there. After attending school together until graduating Euge joined the Navy and I was drafted into the Army. These later days, Euge and I spoke sometimes daily, reminiscing about old times. He remembered everybody and had followed their careers, especially those in Sports. Who can I now talk sports with? Who will remind me of our youth in old Hammond, Indiana? Who can I share my problems with as only two 91 year old comrades can share? I already miss our phone talks. I have lost, possibly my last friend of " ancient times." But the Saints in Heaven have gained a new one. They had better know at least a little bit about baseball. Ted Thomas
