Obituary of Connie Arleen Smith

Connie A. Smith was born in Pensacola, Florida on July 31, 1963 to Betty E. Clay (Whitaker) and Henry D. Smith. She moved often due to her fathers active military service. Connie is the the youngest of three siblings, Patricia Elling, Kathy Smith and then Connie. Connie was a mother to three wonderful children, Rick Resko, the eldest and only son, Sheri Holley(Resko) the middle and first born girl and Sara Resko, the youngest and the baby of the bunch, as well as their spouses Amanda (Rick), Joe (Sheri) and David (Sara) and all the friends they brought along for the jourmey of life. Connie prided herself in being a mom to her children and being actively involved in their schooling and extracurricular activies, from being a baseball team mom to a cheer coach. She found joy in her childrens success. Connie was a proud Nanny to her grandchildren, Amber (23), Destinee (21), Kallysta (19), Khloe (14), Jordan (14), Savannah (14), Kylie (13), Addalynn (13), Annabelle (12), Kennadie (11), Billy (9), Karsyn (8) and Ella (3). Connie was also a Great-Nanny to Paisley (1). Her children, grandchildren and great grand daughter were her pride and joy. Connie was employed at the Marion County School Board for 26 years before taking on retirement to enjoy the sunshine and her pool. She started with the school board as a part time cafeteria aid and eventually worked in to being a lead night time custodian, which she took great pride in. She was elected for numerous awards and received many accolades for her outstanding progression in some of the toughest schools! An avid concert goer, Connie prided herself in taking those around her to events such as Earthday Birthday and 5FDP concerts. She enjoyed the beach and all the vitamin c her body could take in! Connie enjoyed life and being around her family and sharing her home with them. On January 22, 2024, she lost her battle to endometrial cancer and passed peacefully in her home surrounded by those who meant the most to her. She will be greatly missed but her battle will not be forgotten by those who walked beside her throughout her journey! Connie now lives where the summer never ends!!!
