To Bill and family, I was one of the fortunate ones whose life was touched, and guided for a time, by Lee. She gave, and taught, me more than anyone outside my own parents. As my Editor, she inspired and encouraged me, and sometimes frustrated me, as well, but she always brought her point home to teach and guide me.. As my friend, she was kind, loving, gentle, funny, and always so very genuine. I'll never forget the first lesson she taught me, referring to my attempt to be a reliable reporter; "When in doubt, leave it out." As the years moved along, she also taught me to apply that same simple principle to my life, and made me a better person with her wisdom. I can't imagine how much you will miss Lee, but perhaps knowing she left a tiny part of herself with a country girl in TN will help you to realize Lee did that for so many that she will live on in hearts and memories of us all.
