Obituary of Jean C. Kaminski

Ocala, Florida

Jean C. Kaminski, age 88, passed away unexpectedly under the care of HCA Florida Hospital Ocala on January 10, 2024.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Eva Kaminski, her brothers Dennis and John Kaminski, her sisters Laura Kaminski and Lottie Bielski, nieces Barbara Szabo and Susan Horvath, and her best friend, a Chihuahua named Mikey.

She is survived by her nephews Richard Kaminski and James Bielski, and many grand nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and grand/ great nieces and nephews.

Jean was born in Bridgeport Connecticut and raised in Fairfield Connecticut.  She held a master’s degree and taught as an elementary school teacher in Fairfield Connecticut for many years before becoming a principal in the same school system.  She spent time in real estate with her sister Laura before the two moved to live in Ocala.

Her faith was always an important part of her life.  After moving to Florida, she became a member of the Secular Franciscans, serving the Ocala community with charity, benevolence, and selflessness.  She was known to her friends as an individual who was fiercely independent with a marvelous sense of humor. She was well liked in her community and will be remembered for her kindness.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala.  A mass and celebration of her life will be held at Queen of Peace on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 8:30 am with entombment following at 10:00 am at Highland Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the charity of your choice.
