Obituary of Randolph “Dude” Hilland Bishop

Randolph “Dude” Hilland Bishop, 68, of Ocala, FL, passed away on January 4, 2024 of natural causes.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

Randy was born to Randolph Barzen Bishop and Dorothy Virginia “Ginny” Bishop in Bethesda, Maryland. Randy graduated from Howey-in-the-Hills Academy, where he was even voted Most Athletic! Once his schooling was complete, he became a show car driver for NASCAR for both Gibbs Racing and Melling Racing.

In 1983, Randy married Rebecca Lynn Allen. Randy and Rebecca went on to have three children, Randolph Allen, Victoria Lynn, and Miranda Leigh.

One of the things Randy truly loved was road trips. His daughters recall traveling to dozens of states with him growing up, including but not limited to Oklahoma, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Tennessee.

In 2016, Randy retired and spent as much time as possible with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching football, golf, and of course NASCAR. Being a lifeguard during his youth, Randy loved the beach. He relished taking his children and grandchildren and introducing them to the big waves of the Atlantic!

Randy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ginny and Randolph Barzen and his only son, Randolph Allen. He is survived by his sister Valerie Bishop McGrath, his wife of 40 years, Rebecca, daughters Victoria Bishop-Zachary (Chad) and Miranda Barrineau (Travis), granddaughters Adella, Graysen, and Ellasen; and recently added to the family step-grandchildren.

Randy’s laugh and jovial personality will be missed by all who knew him.

Viewing will be held at Hiers Baxley on January 10, 2024 at 10am to 11:30 am, followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery at 12pm.
