Obituary of John Walter Townley

John Walter Townley, of Candler, Fl, went to be with the Lord suddenly on the morning of December 9, 2023.  John, age 43, was proceeded in death by his father J.O. “Toro” Townley, Jr, his grandparents Jake and Helen Townley, grandfather Robert Kelsey VanAken and brother Wallace Trevor Hall.

John was born on November 8, 1980 in Denver, Colorado.  John is survived by his mother Becki Hall (Wallace), Step mother Pamela Townley, wife Skylar Townley, daughters Hayli Townley and Mia Kate DelFino, sons James Boatwright and Madon Mulligan, brothers Josh Townley, Beau Townley, sisters Tori Dudley (Steven), Shawn Kurtz (Terry) and Adrian “Amy” Knight, and grandmother Elizabeth Mullins Also many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

John had a deep love for all of his family.  The day Hayli was born and he became a dad was such a proud day for him, he had his baby girl.  John loved being a dad to all of his children.  His love for his wife Skylar was something that everyone could see all over his face.  John was a man of strong and constant faith.  He knew that whatever trial he was facing that God would give him the strength to see him through. John had a strong love and compassion for others.  Always taking the opportunity to share his testimony with many.

John was employed with Townley for 28 years and held numerous positions through the years, everything from cutting grass and raking leaves around the shops to cutting up scrap steel and eventually moved into more important roles such as foundry machine work, molding and pouring, and most of his time was machining. He loved working with numbers and eventually made his way into foundry accounting for about 10 years. He had a few other roles here and there.  His last and latest role was VP of Capital Projects where he skyrocketed with projects including the new sand reclamation system and install of the largest furnace in the history of the company. The company will surely miss him, his experience, knowledge and expertise!

John loved sport shooting and hunting more than just about anyone we know.  He would travel to Georgia to his hunting lease where he found peace and joy and loved being there so much, it was truly his home away from home. He loved hog hunting at night and did lots of that including some predator hunting for coyotes and such.  Along with his passion for hunting he enjoyed reloading his own ammunition and did lots of custom loads to match up with his custom built (by himself) long range modern precision rifles.  One of his greatest shot accomplishments was up in Bradford where he made his longest shot on record of 850 yards hitting a 12” steel plate.  His biggest deer ever to be shot was very very large 12 point buck which he shot in November 2020 at Lizard Lope Lodge. John had so much knowledge of ammo and different types of guns, calibers and distance, he was truly a walking dictionary when it came to this type of stuff.

John has a heart bigger than anyone I have ever met. He was so kind, generous, loving and selfless. He adored our children as they did him. He changed our world for the better and he is going to be missed so much. I pray he gives us the strength to continue this journey. He will always be my person. Love, your wife.
