Obituary of Kathleen Joyce Balboni
Kathleen Joyce Balboni passed away at her home on November 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 11, 1942, in Wellesley, Massachusetts to the late George and Rebecca Kilmain. She moved to Ocala over forty years ago from her home in Colchester, Vermont.
She raised her family while working as a bookkeeper for The Town of Colchester, Ballard and Son Plumbing, ClosetMaid and retired from Central Florida Community College after over twenty-one years. She worked part-time at Andrews Lemek Tax Services, and throughout her life, she was a caregiver for her special needs granddaughter, Brittney. Her Catholic faith was dear to her as she was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and was a smiling presence to those at Brother’s Keeper and frequented Perpetual Adoration on a regular basis. Family was the center of her life, raising four children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandsons, where she enjoyed Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas but most especially birthdays. Kathleen enjoyed traveling with family, especially to Ireland. She was an avid walker and enjoyed spin class at CF even into her late seventies. She will always be remembered for the many friends that she shared a special bond with.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Louise Atkins and Suzanne Rich.
Kathleen is survived by her children Edward (Jill) Balboni, Paul (Kathleen) Balboni, Tina (Rusty) Houghtaling, Mary “Becky” Balboni, grandchildren Meaghan, Alexis, Brittney, Sabrina, Emily, Madison, Casey, Makayla, Charlotte, Jameson, Olivia, Stella and great-grandsons Miles and Teddy. She is also survived by her sisters Sally Powell, Peggy Connors and brother Sonny Kilmain and many dear nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church with inurnment to follow at Highland Memorial Park.
