Obituary of Michael Dennis Leschak

Michael Dennis Leschak, 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023, at home with his daughters and close family lovingly by his side. Born October 19, 1958, in Ocala, FL to August and Olga (Soja) Leschak. Michael grew up in Weirsdale as a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 113 where he earned his Eagle Scout Ranking. He graduated from Lake Weir High School, Class of 1976, where he represented the American Legion Post 284 at Boy State and marched in the band for four years playing the Alto Saxophone. Michael went on to earn a degree in Computer Science from the University of Florida, Class of 1981, where he marched in the Gator Band for five more years. After graduating, he started his journey as a Computer Programmer Analyst with the Lake County Clerk of Courts, retiring after 37 years of service. Michael also dedicated many years to the Sons of the American Legion Post 284, Lake Weir Middle/High School Band Boosters, and the appointed Treasurer for the Village of Lake Pointe Homeowner’s Association. Michael was preceded in death by his parents August and Olga (Soja) Leschak. Michael is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Jensen (husband, Joel Jensen) and Christine Yancey (fiancé, Timothy Maynard); nine grandchildren (Breanna Meredith, Logan Meredith, Matty Meredith, Ella Jensen, Tony Yancey, Trystin Yancey, Trey Maynard, Chloe Maynard, and Madison Maynard); two brothers, Stephen Leschak (Mary) and John Leschak (Lucille); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Services will be held at Church of Grace at 7076 SE 110th Street Road, Belleview, FL 34420 on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The viewing will begin at 11:00am and the funeral service will begin at 12:00pm. If desired, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Church of Grace where Michael served as the treasurer and an elder for over 20 years.
