Obituary of Alan Walter Tinkham Sr.

Alan Walter Tinkham, aged 76, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2023.

 

He was born in Providence, RI.  Alan was predeceased by his parents, Arnold T. and Lucretia (Suddard) Tinkham and his brother Arthur “Skip” Tinkham.

 

Alan attended schools in North Scituate, RI and served with the US Navy from 1966-1968 on the USS Dyess.  He was a diesel mechanic for many years in Providence, RI, Ocala and Inverness, FL.  Alan loved helping others with their mechanical issues, as well as lending a hand to anyone that needed help.  Alan loved classic cars and proudly restored his own award winning 1971 Dodge Charger for car shows.  He and Sally attended many Nascar races at Daytona, FL. Mark Martin was his favorite driver.

 

He was also very proud of his deep North Scituate roots as well as his Mayflower heritage.

 

Alan is survived by his loving family and wife, Sally Tinkham, children; Arnold (Michelle), Craig (Rodney), Dawn (Trevor) Byrne, Heidi Justice (Jimmy Bryan), grandchildren; Matthew, Alex, Alysa, Justin, Grey, Kyle, Rebecca, Cody, Veronica, Chris, Myles and fifteen great-grandchildren.

 

Alan’s funeral service is held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, on SW 110th Street in Ocala, FL with Pastor Ron Howard officiating from his beloved Meadowbrook Church in Ocala, FL.  Pallbearers are grandchildren Justin, Grey, Matthew, Kyle, Cody Tinkham and Christopher Branco.  Burial is in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dunnellon, FL.
