Herman Loy “Red” Grizzard was called home by Jesus on September 20, 2023.
He was born in Carrollton, Georgia on August 27, 1934. Due to his red hair his nickname became “Red” from childhood and he was proud of it.
Red is survived by his wife Ollie Jane Blair of 70 years, his son Stephen, daughter Pam Eubanks (Rick), three grandsons Jacob Grizzard (Melanie) Lucas Grizzard and Lanier Eubanks (Callie Jo) and four great grandsons Emmett, Sawyer and Walker Grizzard and Wells Eubanks. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ocala since the age of eighteen. He loved to sing and was a member of the Choir for over thirty-five years.
Red worked for the Norris Cattle Company for over twenty-five years. He traveled the country and to South Africa with Brahman show bulls. Being a rancher and cowboy was his absolute love. When the sunset on the ranch he went to work for HB and Fred Roberts in the limestone business for an additional twenty-five years leaving a legacy of a strong work ethic for his children.
He was a member of the Florida Cattleman’s Association and the Marion County Cattleman’s Association where he enjoyed cooking steaks for the annual cookout.
He loved college football and was a die-hard Georgia Bulldog fan. Coach Dooley and him were pen pals. You could always find him in a crowd by his Bulldog cap high on top of his head. He always enjoyed sharing a cold Dr. Pepper. He truly enjoyed Sunday afternoon rides and sharing the history of Marion County.
