Obituary of Lena Dowd Schmidt

Lena Dowd Schmidt 94 of Ocala, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Ocala Oaks Rehabilitation.

Born in Covington, New York on October 23, 1928, to John and Florence Peck Phillips, who predeceased her. Predeceased husbands include Lloyd G. Dowd, Jr. and Russel E. Schmidt. She is predeceased by the following siblings: Marshall Phillips, Doris Spurr, Louise Balestrieri, Lois Hemlich, Evelyn Ellis, Mildred Keller and June Hawkins. The only survicing sibling is Calvin Phillips of Perry, New York.

Surviving relatives include Cindy Wampole, Ocala, Florida; Patti Osgood Cuba, New York; Douglas (Tricia) Smith Arkport, New York as well as 5 great grandchildren & several nieces and nephews.

Lena was employed as the Secretary to the Superintendent of Angelica Center School, Angelica, New York for 25 years. After relocating to Florida, she worked for 30 years with Foxfire Realty, Inc., as a Secretary/Bookkeeper. She retired in June 2016.

Lena is a member of Oakcrest Baptist Church, Ocala, Florida. She is a past Secretary of the Allegany County Agricultural Society County Fair.

A remembrance prayer will be held at 10:00am on September 8, 2023 at Highland Memorial Park, 1515 NE 3^rd Street, Ocala, FL 34470.
