Obituary of William Phillip Roberts
After 91 years of kickin' cows and catching every big trout in the Gulf of Mexico, William (Bill) Roberts, the cowboy, fishing guide, author, and artist has hung up his spurs, laid down his pole, washed his brushes and gone home. He passed peacefully on August 10, 2023 in Ocala surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. Bill was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a fifth-generation Floridian and will be remembered as the author of "All I Ever Wanted To Be Was A Cowboy". He was also a renowned Cedar Key fishing guide and artist.
Bill is survived by his children Donna Leeward, Raymond Roberts and Paul Roberts; stepchildren Diane, Alice, David and Chuck; and grandchildren Kenyon and Vernice. He will be greatly missed.
