Obituary of Richard Alan Hyre
Richard Alan Hyre, Sr.
Richard Alan Hyre, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully at Cates House Hospice in Ocala, Fl on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. He was born in the heart of the mountainous rural Appalachian region in Weston, West Virginia on April 26, 1934.
Richard was a 1952 graduate of Weston High School and attended West Virginia Tech University. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served two assignments as a heavy equipment operator at Nellis AFB and Elmendorf AFB during the Korean War era.
In 1958, Richard married his hometown sweetheart, Bonnie Sue Montgomery at St Patrick Catholic Church in Weston. They relocated to Elyria, Ohio in 1960. Richard was employed by the B.F. Goodrich Chemical plant in Avon Lake, Ohio until he relocated to Florida in 1977. In his later years, he was an avid walker, golfer, and member of the VFW Post 4781 in Ocala, Fl. He attended Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Michael P. Hyre, Sr., mother, Anita Kripl Hyre, and brother, Michael P. Hyre, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, his children, Richard A. Hyre, Jr. (Linda), Julie A. Pierce (Mark), Scott A. Hyre, Shelli A. Poll (Brian), and Deanna R. Miller.; 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services (9695 SW 110th St, Ocala, FL 34481) on Friday, August 25 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Macular Degeneration Research at brightfocus.org. Online condolences may be sent to hires-Baxley.com
