Obituary of John Thorsen Holder

John Thorsen Holder went to be with his heavenly Father on August 2nd, 2023.  He was raised in Bergenfield, N.J. and took great pride in his architect father who helped design the famous El Dorado Towers in N.Y.C.  John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Quillback submarine.  He worked at Cape Canaveral testing missle flight readiness and later went to Bible College and was a missionary to Puerto Rico for many years.  Later in life, John served as Chaplain for the Florida Department of Corrections. 

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph Michael Holder and Emily Marie Schaller, sisters Grace and Barbara, and brother Walter,first wife and mother of his children, Mary, son John, daughter Arlene, and grandsons Matthew and Kevin. 

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 35yrs Dorothea Traphofner Holder, daughters Cheryl Grant and Janet (Jon) Hubbs, sons Stephen (Dawn) Holder and Mark (Gee) Holder, and many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren.
