Obituary of Elmeda R Smith

Elmeda R Smith, 91, of Silver Springs, Florida passed away at her home surrounded by family on June 15, 2023. She was born on January 21st, 1932 to Lester and Eunice Raines (Cogdill). Elmeda was a native of Grassy Fork, Tennessee before moving to Pittsgrove, New Jersey where she resided for many years with her late husband Joseph and their four children Ronald, Donna, Mark, and Linda.  Elmeda moved to Silver Springs, Florida to follow the dream of owning a campground on the water and where she ended up meeting her husband Paul. Paul and Elmeda enjoyed many memorable years together up until her passing. Elmeda was a one of kind, loving, and caring person.

Elmeda is survived by her husband Paul Olmstead of Silver Springs, FL; her daughter Donna Beckett of North Carolina; her daughter Linda Cottrell-Freda (Tim) of Pittsgrove, Nj; and her loving dog Woody. She is further survived by her step children; seven grandchildren along with many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Joe G. Smith, and her sons John Mark, and Ronald Smith, as well as multiple siblings.

A funeral service for Elmeda will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - Ocala (910 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470) on Friday, June 23rd, 2023. Viewing will be held from 2:00 until 3:00pm. A separate service will be held in Bridgeton, New Jersey at Padgett Funeral Home the following week. Burial will be at Centerton Baptist Freewill in Centerton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to hiers-baxley.com
