Margery Jackson

Obituary of Margery Imboden Jackson

Margery Imboden Jackson, 96, passed away on June 25, 2022, in Jacksonville, Florida. Margery was born on May 13, 1926, in Penn Township, Iowa.  As a girl, she lived happily on the family farm near Pitzer, IA with her parents, Roy and Ruth Imboden and her sisters Olive and Lillis. Margery attended Penn #8, a one room school house, for her primary school, Earlham High School in Earlham, Iowa and later went on to attend Stephens College and the University of Chicago for higher education.

After graduating, Margery married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Jackson in 1947. They had four children together and were happily married for 60 years until Bill’s death in 2007. They lived primarily in Des Plaines, IL and Fort Lauderdale, FL before retiring to Ocala, FL.

Although self-described as shy, Margery had many admirable accomplishments in her life. She taught nursery school to children in a hospital as her first job. Then she raised her four completely different children, fully supporting their many interests and welcoming friends in our home. She doted on her grandchildren, her great-great grandchildren, and extended family.  She was a constant, welcome presence in her churches and a proud member of PEO for many years. When Bill opened his accounting practice, she took a “temporary” job as secretary which lasted for 25 years until they retired. She valued and loved her friends whom she stayed in touch throughout her life. She was a great listener. She loved animals and nature and donated to causes to protect them.

Margery is survived  by her children, Ann Jackson, Steve (Nancy) Jackson, Marilyn (Kenny) Lane and Rick (Wendy) Jackson; her grandchildren, Kelsey (Joel) Van Belkom, Ross Jackson, Carly Jackson, Daniel (Gwen) Lane, Erika (Elijah) Giddens; her great-grandchildren, Sydney Van Belkom, Logan Van Belkom, and Amelia Lane; her sister-in-law, Jane Drury; her nieces Mary Louise (Dale) Hatfield, Sue (Rodney) Conley, and Elizabeth Trautmann; her nephews Tommy (Judi) Knouf, John Joyner, Dan Joyner, Bill (Claudia) Joyner and Robert (Melody) Lenocker; and many great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Margery is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents Roy and Ruth Imboden, her sisters and brothers-in-law Olive (Jap) Lenocker, Lillis (Mike) Knouf, Janet (Dave) Joyner and her niece Virginia McGilvray.
