Obituary of Lois Hunt

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, Lois Hunt, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully at age 88.  Lois was born on April 26, 1935 to Ottis and Bessie Tedder in Whiteville, NC.  She grew up closely involved in New Hope Baptist Church where she led the children's choir.  She went on to earn her bachelor's degree from St Andrews Presbyterian College before moving to Florida, where she began her teaching career.  Lois had a passion for education, working tirelessly to strengthen the skills of her students and prepare them for success in the business world.  She went on to earn her MBA at the University of Central Florida and continued her teaching at Central Florida Community College.  After her retirement, Lois continued to work with children in Good News Club, sharing her foundation of faith with the younger generations.  She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Ocala as well as an active member of Ocala Christian Women's Connection.  Professionally, she served with both Delta Kappa Gamma and the Florida Business Education Association.  Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Gene, and is survived by her son, Chad.  Lois will be laid to rest at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Whiteville, NC, where a memorial service will be held on June 10th at 10am.  Live streaming will be offered at the time of the service here: www.worthingtonfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feed the Children charity.
