My father, my dad, was the most kind and patient man I've ever known. I moved from Maryland to Florida to live with him in August 2021 after his diagnosis with dementia. It wasn't easy, but he made sure it wasn't hard. There was absolutely nothing my dad wouldn't do for me and so there was absolutely nothing I wouldn't do for him. It was a pleasure to take care of him because he made it a pleasure. It's not everyday we hear that it was a pleasure to take care of someone with dementia, it's hard, but he was the one who made it a pleasure. Even when he got frustrated with himself, we'd laugh together about it, cuz what else are you going to do. I want to thank all my neighbors for being there at the drop of a dime whenever we needed anything, we live in a great neighborhood. I want to thank the Compassionate Care Hospice staff and nurses for making his final days at home comfortable for him and easier for me. I want to thank my little brother, Brian, for being here for us whenever we needed him. I leave my heart, my big sister Jeri, for last. She was in her car and on her way here from Georgia within the hour of my call telling her he was going to the hospital and she hasn't left his side or mine since. You can go home now Jeri...lol... I love you.
