Obituary of George Harl Rankin Jr.

Our beloved George Harl Rankin Jr., departed this earthly life on Monday December 19th, 2022 in the comfort of his home located in Ocala, FL. 

“Ocala” George was born in Lincoln, IL on March 30th, 1940 to Josephine L Redmen and George H Rankin Sr. 

He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis J Rankin. 

He is the younger brother to Beverly Marie McRoberts and the older brother to Shirley Jo Arnold, Jacquelyn Sue Gehlbach, David Allen Rankin (predeceased), and Steven Jay Rankin. 

George is the proud father of Kiplyn Carpenter (predeceased), Donald Kent Carpenter, Eric Faugust, Kelly Jones Rankin, Julie Kylesa Rankin and the proud stepfather to Terry-Lynn Bergeron, Nicole Renee Marvelle, and Brenda-Lee Manteca. 

He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. 

George loved his family and life. He was known to many people as a dedicated businessman, an expert in genealogy, a singer and lover of music…always the life of the party. The sorrow of his passing will be felt near and far. 

Visitation for George will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 1:00 PM until the time of his Memorial Service at 2:00 PM in the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, Timber Ridge Chapel, 9695 SW 110th Street, Ocala, Florida 34481, PH: 352-873-4114.

Immediately following we will have A Celebration of Life will be held at  Our Place Saloon located at 7651 SW Hwy 200, Ocala FL.
