Obituary of Nancy Lee McCallister

Nancy Lee McCallister (née Staley), 80,; of Lake Panasoffkee, FL formally Harlem Springs, OH, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,  Sunday, November 27,  2022 after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving sons.

She was born November 10, 1941, in New Cumberland, WV, to Jackson Martin Staley and Mildred Viola Hoffman Staley Prodanovich.

She was preceded in death by her High School Sweetheart -- the love of her life --Pastor Jimmy Dale McCallister, Sr.; her parents, maternal grand parents, William Newell and Myrtle Jo Udelphia (Garloch) Hoffman, and her paternal grand parents Fredrick Neal and Hilda Rachel (Crago) Staley, two brothers Billie (Bill) Jackson and Jimmy Martin Staley, two children daughter Jackie Lee Carrick, son Jimmy Dale McCallister, Jr.; two grand children Charles Royce McCallister and Jamie Viola Lee (Carrick) Ford.

Surviving are her two brothers Rick Staley of New Cumberland, WV and William Prodanovich of East Liverpool, OH; two Sons, Martin L. McCallister, Sr. of Amsterdam, OH and John T. McCallister of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, four grand children and nine great grand children.

Being raised with her brothers; she enjoyed playing and watching sports. She was an avid Steelers fan.

If you came to visit her, you would hear about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and if a game was on, she would be watching it while crocheting or making crafts.

She enjoyed singing southern gospel and the old hymns; “The Old Rugged Cross” was her favorite. She enjoyed being in multiple choirs over the years and performing  in churches and Senor Care Facilities which lead her to become a certified nurse’s aid and working at a couple Senor Care Facilities.

Nancy and Jim ministered at Simmons Ridge Chapel in Amsterdam, OH before retiring and traveling where they started a few campground churches.

They stopped traveling settling in Lake Panasoffkee, FL where they started and ministered at the Lakeside Tabernacle.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Proverbs 31:28 KJV. She was our good ol girl and will truly be missed by many.

For friends and family in Florida a Home Coming Celebration Service will be held Saturday, January 14th, 2023, at noon at the Independent Freewill Baptist Church in Center Hill, FL; with Pastor John Farfaglia officiating.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Simmons Ridge Chapel, Amsterdam, OH. for her and her husband. On Saturday May 13th, 2023 at noon with Pastor Martin L. McCallister, Sr. officiating. Interment to follow in the family plot in Simmons Ridge Cemetery’s with her husband receiving full Military Honors.
