I was so sorry to hear about Doug passing away. I was a childhood friend and neighbor of Doug. It was such a good neighborhood to grow up in. We lived north of the joiners on what was then called Woodfields road. We played all kinds of games together and we would camp out in each others back yards and such. I remember a time that Arlene Francis and the Today Show was broadcasting out at Silver Springs and Doug's Mother took us out there to see it. They sat us up on an old Buckboard wagon on the set and we were asked a couple of questions by Arlene Francis herself. It was broadcast live and there was no way then to record it but we were on TV! Doug was not only a friend and neighbor but a classmate throughout our school years. As we grew older we lost touch but I would always catch up with Doug at the class reunions. He left his mark in Ocala and his legacy defines him. He will be most definitely missed. Rest in peace. Bruce Young

I never met Doug, but I knew him through my aunt /best friend Jackie McCleaf. The two of them were friends for 6 decades. From the stories I heard, he was someone you wanted to be around. He will be missed greatly by family, friends and his love Nancy. RIP Doug. Deborah Penland

If you were riding your dinosaur down 23rd street, going 24 and 1/2 miles per hour...and had a flat tire...how many bubble gums wrappers would it take to fill your aqua lung if you couldn't dance on the 23rd of October and the telephone poles were inside the telephone holes and the umbrellas were upside down in the chimney sweep? Noooooo....you know pterodactyls don't sharpen their pencils on the 4th of July! xoxoxoxo
