Obituary of Darline Spencer
On February 5th, 1933, Clifford Darline Fulford was born in Umatilla, FL to her parents Julius Dalton and Carrie Lee Fulford. She was born into a big family, she had serval brothers and sisters. At a young age, her family moved to the Ocala area. Her family was of farming origin. As a child, she spent many days after school in the fields with her mom, dad, and siblings. Her love for boiled peanuts started around this time, and she loved them her whole life.
She was raised in a Christian home and later in life would be very active in her local church. Around the age of twenty years old she met a man at a dance named James Henry Miller Spencer. Both fell in love and shortly after became Mr. & Mrs. Spencer. They had five sons of their own—James Jr., Eugene, Charles, Tommy, and Steven. Due to her love for sports Darline, along with her husband, motivated all the boys to be the best they could be in whatever they were participating in. The boys were very athletic growing up. Whether it was footballs, basketballs, baseballs, and soccer balls they were always out in the yard.
Her love for Christ kept her active in many church activities, Teaching Sunday school, and Awana Clubs Ministry for kids. She worked hard for the Athletic Booster club for Vanguard High and Ocala Christian Academy. She also volunteered for the jailhouse ministry for Central Baptist—Ocala, FL. If that weren’t enough, she spent a lot of her time volunteering for Munroe Regional Medical Center, now Advent Health, as the front desk help. She was also a member of the church choir and loved performing in the “Living Christmas Tree” productions at Central Baptist Church.
At the end of a long meaningful life, she is survived by one sister Desma Louise Rogers, and three of her sons, Eugene Spencer (Octavia), Charles Spencer (Lynn), and Tommy Spencer (Linda). 6 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, and 16 great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Henry Miller Spencer Sr. and sons, James Henry Miller Spencer Jr., and Steven Spencer.
