Obituary of Don Clement

In loving memory of Donald Bruce Clement, 80 years of age, of Summerfield, FL, who passed away suddenly on September 5, 2022.

Donald was born in Rockville Centre, NY on August 15, 1942. He married Carol Foster on June 24, 1967, in Schenectady, NY. Don graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Master’s Degree and was a member of Prometheus fraternity.

Don’s first love was of children, and he worked as a 6th grade teacher for Pittsford (NY) Central Schools for 32 years. He was a founding member of the Pittsford Federal Credit Union, with 20 years on the board, and the Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance Corps where he was both a medic and a driver. Don also founded the Pittsford Ski Club and was a member of the Pittsford Rotary. His hobbies included golf, fishing, boating, skiing, traveling, furniture refinishing and restoration as well as antique cars and boats which earned him several awards. He was always eager to learn how things worked, how to fix and maintain them, and in turn shared that knowledge by helping others build and repair things. Don had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Friends and family meant everything to him.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Ellsworth Clement and his mother Annie Amelia Pumiglio. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 55 years; First cousins Kenneth (Gail) Winterbauer, their daughter Hannah (Macaulay) Akin, Elise (Vincent) Sinagra; Half-brother Glen Clement, niece Corey (Kellie) Clement and grandnephew Carter Clement.

Calling hours will be from 1-2 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Hiers Baxley Funeral Home, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. with reception to follow. Memorials may be given to AFTD.org, or a charity of your choice in Don’s memory.
