Condolences to Carol and families on CDR Garee Michael's passing May 30, 2022. I have been on his daily biblical passages for decades. As a Navy veteran I always looked forward to hearing about his naval experiences. A bunch of us joined the Navy after graduation from Gering High School in 1955. Chaplin Garee always gave the prayer at our GHS class reunions. I met his mother Lorene, once when they invited me for a meal. They lived close to the Gering Union Pacific railroad depot. Since Garee and I where small and could not compete with the larger talented athletes we were" student mangers" for basket ball and football.. We picked up used towels and issued and stored equipment. I though Garee was doing well after his open heart surgery last year.
We lost him while he was out on his bicycle doing what he loved.. I should be so lucky. Dwane Wills Overland Park, Ks. USN, 1950's. Smooth sailing CDR.
