Obituary of Roger P. Demers

Roger "Spider" Demers, age 74 of Ocala Florida peacefully passed away on April 4, 2022 in the arms of his beloved, Phoebe Boone Demers after a brief illness.

The Nashua New Hampshire native js the son of the late Marcel and Claire Demers. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Rachel Demers Calhoun.

He is survived by his children, Lindsey Schneider and her husband Eli, Roger Demers Jr., and his wife Katie Murphy, Shawn Demers, Wayne Brusseau and his wife Heather and four grandchildren, David & Steven Schneider and Hailly & Shawn Demers.

He also lives behind his brother Paul Demers and his partner Mary Ann Whittaker and nephews Brock and Jason and his special niece, "Little" Gail Carvelli.

After attending schools in Nashua Roger enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and honorably serve his country. He was stationed in Vietnam during the Vietnam war. He continued his service within the community as a veteran helping veterans. He belonged to a number of veterans organizations. Most notably he was a lifetime member of his local VFW post 4781 in Ocala and had served as a past Vice Commander of the Post. He was involved in a number of the fundraising activities that help the community and other veterans.

Upon returning from Vietnam, he started a career Ubanging mails"as he would say and became an accomplished master carpenter for the next 40 years until his retirement. He was very proud of the over 50-foot bar he built in the new member canteen at VFW post 4781 in Ocala displaying medals, ribbons and other war memorabilia of all of its members.

Roger was an avid motorcycle enthusiast enjoying rides with his "Brothers" many of which were also veterans of the Vietnam war and United States Marine Corp. They did weekly local rides in addition to cross-country rides together.

In 2006 he and his wife Phoebe retired to Ocala Florida. They both enjoyed to travel and learn about our great country. Traveling the country in a 40 foot bus brought them to over 30 of our wonderful states. And they were proud of the over 15,000 miles they covered crossing the country. In addition, they enjoyed cruising to places such as Mexico, Panama and other portion of Central America and the Caribbean. They had enjoyed over 12 cruises together and with their family.

A visitation and service will be held Friday, April 29, 2022 from 3-5 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services TimberRidge Chapel located at 9695 110th Street Ocala FL, 34481.
