How can I possibly forget Bob Moose - my first next-door neighbor at my first house?
I played horseshoes with him and Mr. Jeffries. I helped him bring in his hay bales. I helped catch his pig (or cow) whenever it got loose. I helped his kids bury their pet cat, Barney. We both kept honeybees. I watched his kids grow up. Sometimes I just listened to him when he needed to talk. He, for a time, was both father and mother to his 4 children - not an easy task (even though they were all angels of course). When he remarried, he added 2 more. We celebrated the 4th of July together with neighborhood picnics when his kids got to eat everything they wanted. (I never baked a store-bought pizza that they didn't somehow smell). They camped out in my shed. We shared campfires.
He was a devout Catholic, and he loved to dance.
He once got mad at me for not attending his Amway presentation. Some incredibly good memories from the neighborhood which I still refer to as The Twilight Zone.
