Obituary of Nancy P. Cowart

Nancy P. Cowart, 85, of Ocala, Florida passed away at Advent Health of Ocala on February 14, 2022. She was born in Ocala on November 17, 1936, the daughter of the late H. Todd and Corinne (Smith) Porter. Nancy attended Ocala High School and then went on to the University of Florida where she obtained her bachelor’s degree. She married her loving husband, John, and together the two spent many years before his passing in 2018. Nancy worked many years as a congressional staffer for Congressman Buddy MacKay. She attended Central Church of Christ.

Nancy is survived by step-son, John (Allyson) Cowart, III; cousins, Ellen McLean and Lelia Harmon Windom; and her best friends, Elizabeth McKay Fisher, Beth Wheeler, Malonda Mitchell, Judy Hills, and Joyce Bowden; and her god-daughter, Kate Haranis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John.

A graveside service for Nancy will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, February 26 at Highland Memorial Park (1515 NE 3rd Street, Ocala, FL 34470). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to hiers-baxley.com.
