Obituary of Luther Alexander Thomas

Luther Alexander Thomas, 98, of Ocala, Florida passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 in Ocala. 

Born in Washington, D.C., Mr. Thomas lived in Ocala since 1986.  He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy and received several commendations for his service in the war.  Mr. Thomas was a counselor for at-risk youth in a group home setting and spent his life in service to others.  He enjoyed playing pool and golfing in his retirement.  He was an active and faithful member of Mount Mariah Missionary Baptist Church and attended as long as his health permitted.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Vernelle Thomas.  He was from a large family, and is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.  Mr. Thomas was inurned at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
