Dear Uncle Tom, I am deeply saddened that you are gone from this world. I want you to know that you have always been very special to me. When we met, I guess I was 11 years old. I never expected to have a young, handsome uncle who would introduce me to flying in small planes, riding in very windy speedboats, and best of all, driving me around with you and Betty in tiny, shiny sports cars. I am sorry I ate the frosting off your wedding cake! Chick and I enjoyed visiting the cabin in TN and admired your carpentry skills, as we did in your homes in Forked River and in Florida. I was proud of your Air Force record and stood up in your honor when they played "Wild Blue Yonder" at patriotic festivals that I attended at West Point. That made you happy. You were always calm, steady, and reassuring. You once promised me that wherever I am, if I need help, you would always come for me. I never forgot that. You were always good to me, and I treasure the rapport that we shared. I know that you will Rest in Peace and I look forward to finding you again in the world to come. Please come and get me.
