Obituary of Catherine M. Ochs

Catherine M. Ochs, 67, of Ocala, Florida, passed away at her home on Monday, January 3, 2022. She was born November 8, 1954, the daughter of the late George William and Marie Belle (Dillon) Horst. Cathy was a native of Medford, New York before moving to the Ocala area from Sayville, New York in 2018. In 1979, she married her loving husband, Bruce Ochs, and together the two raised their family and shared many years of love and happiness. Cathy attended C.W.Post where she received a Master’s Degree in Education. After many dedicated years at Sayville High School, Cathy retired in 2017.  Cathy also was a Church Session member, a Sunday School teacher and a Florist.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Bruce; her sons Quentin (Britanny)  and Jason; Sister Carol McCutcheon; Brothers, George, John Horst; and Grandson Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Daughter, Erin; Sister Patricia Hassell.

A memorial service for Cathy will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, January 8 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services (910 E Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470). She will be laid to rest in Yaphank Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yaphank Presbyterian Church (65 Main Street, Yaphank, NY 11980).
