Obituary of Robert Morris Hansen, Jr.
Robert Morris Hansen, Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 13, 2021, in The Villages, FL. Robert, also known as Bob, Bobby, Bubba, Dad, and Grandpa, was born on December 3, 1945, in Harlingen, TX to Robert Morris Hansen, Sr. and Dorothy Alyne Hansen. Robert attended Harlingen High School, class of ‘64. Robert attended Texas A&I a year before joining the United States Marines Corps where he served in Vietnam. Semper Fidelis!
Robert married the love of his life, Donna G. Spinning on May 15, 1970, in Las Vegas, NV. They were married over 51 years while living in several cities including Dallas, TX, Portland, OR and Carmel, IN, where they both enjoyed raising a family, careers, travel, golf, all while making a flurry of friends at each stop.
Robert enjoyed a successful career with MeadWestvaco as a Sales Manager for 30+ years. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, and loved the outdoors as well as a glass of bourbon and diet coke. Robert and Donna retired to The Villages, FL in 2012 where they spent the last several years making new friends, golfing, spending time with their grandkids and great-grandkids, and traveling to new destinations including Alaska and Hawaii.
Survivors include son, Michael G. Hansen of Melbourne, FL and daughter, Catherine Alyne Hansen of Orlando, FL. Also, five grandchildren who include Tiffany (Robbie) Hussami, Christina (Ricky) Grabowski, Bobby (Alesha) Hansen, Ashley (Gabby) Hansen, Carlos Navarro, and 5 beautiful great-grandchildren. And Chloe the grand-dogger. Also surviving are 3 sisters and 1 sister-in-law: Ruth (Chester, deceased) Wrye; Laura (Jimmy) Lindsey of Houston, TX; Barbara (Jay) Meyers of Shreveport, LA; Holly (Jim, deceased) Miller of Vancouver, WA, and 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, and his niece.
Services will be held on January 27, 2022, at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Operation Shoe Box. Both Robert and Donna have volunteered for OSB for more than 7 years which is a charity that is near and dear to their hearts.
