I met John Dennis Sullivan in 1972 at the Muller USARC as a junior Captain and was hired by him as an instructor of enlisted courses. For seven years, John mentored me through various assignments in the Army Reserve system, departing the unit as a Major in 1979. In December 1982, John recommended me for a C&GSC instructor slot at the 1150th School, where I was promoted to LTC and remained as an instructor and enlisted and officer director for seven years. In need of a C&GSC instructor, John asked me to return to the 1163rd in 1989, where I remained until retirement in 1993.
John Sullivan was a good personal friend and mentor throughout my 21 year career in the Army Reserves. He was one of the most sincere and honest people I have ever met. RHIP (Rank Has it Privilege), but John never pulled rank.He was a gentleman and a leader. The 1163rd, where he spent most of his Reserve Career, ran smooth as silk because of COL John Dennis Sullivan. I salute a very fine human being and long time friend.

Uncle John was one of my role models in my life. I always loved visiting with him and my Aunt Barbara in the Villages. I will always remember the memories we made together. I will forever miss him. Rest in Peace, Uncle John.
