Obituary of Oliver Plunkett
Oliver Plunkett, 87, of Ocala, Florida passed away at his home surrounded by family on October 2, 2021. He was born November 29, 1933, the son of the late Patrick and Sarah Plunkett. Oliver was a native of Dublin, Ireland and followed his dream of endless opportunities available to all in the United States of America. He immigrated to Chicago, then moved to Milwaukee, WI where he and his former wife, Monica, raised their eight children before moving to Florida in 1982. Oliver married his current wife, Lan, in 2000 and together they shared many years of love and happiness. Oliver was an avid pilot and bicyclist who rode 2900 miles cross country in under 30 days! Oliver was an entrepreneur and an incredible leader; he was a visionary and founder of Triple Crown Homes. He was a proud member of the US Army.
Oliver is survived by his wife, Lan Andrews; his former spouse and friend Monica Plunkett, the mother of his eight children, Mary Reintjes (Steve), Patrick Plunkett (Kris), Kathleen Plunkett (Bruce Caplan), Oliver Plunkett Jr (Jill), John Plunkett (Arlene), Kevin Plunkett, Maureen Martin (Paul), Michael Plunkett (Linda); Lan’s son Jeffrey (Deanna); daughter Mellissa Babbitt (Andy) with combined 27 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Loretta Plunkett, Tommy Plunkett, Kevin Plunkett, and Peter Plunkett. And many beloved nieces and nephews! He was preceded in death by his brother, John Plunkett, and his sister, Ann Brien.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 20th from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home (910 E Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470). A mass for Oliver will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 21st at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church (5 SE 17th St., Ocala, FL 34471) available by live streaming at: https://blessedtrinity.org/ A private burial with military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery.
