Obituary of Virginia Uldine (Vogt) Chilbert

Virginia Uldine (Vogt) Chilbert, 96, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021, in Ocala, FL.  She was born February 18, 1925 in Seneca, NY, growing up in Geneva, NY; to Frank A. and Edna (Phillips) Vogt.  Virginia graduated from Geneva High School and the Freeman Business School.  She married Dominic F. Chilbert May 6, 1950. 

 

She was loved dearly by her children: MaryAnn Accorinti, David (Teresa) Chilbert, Stephen (Bonnie) Chilbert, June (Ron) Cochran, Joan Chilbert, John (Kellie) Chilbert.  Each of them thought they were her favorite. Thirteen grand children: Christie Frederick, Damon Hargrove, Jessica Lomax, Justen Chilbert, Susanna Fiorratta, Elizabeth Powers, Catherine Rosey, Carrie Wilson, Stephanie List, Jason Lawson, Adam Lawson, Lisa Chodorov, and Shannon Gregory; 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; many special in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Survived by her sister Edna DeGelleke. 

 

As an Air Force wife, Virginia enjoyed traveling, living in and visiting countries throughout Europe, the Middle East, Mexico, Hawaii and most of the United States.  Her favorite hobbies were cooking, baking, candy making, knitting, needle arts, gardening and playing chicken foot.  Her children cannot agree on their favorite meal that she made – there were so many great ones! 

 

Virginia and Dominic were members of Queen of Peace Church, Ocala, for over 30 years.  She served as a sacristan and greeter.  Her favorite job was giving and getting hugs. 

 

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dominic, her brother, Elmer Vogt, her sisters, Rebecca Chiarilli, Barbara Cook. 

 

A funeral mass for Virginia will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 8:30am. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 30 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, TimberRidge Chapel (9695 SW 110th Street, Ocala, FL 34481) from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.
