Obituary of Patricia Ann Olsen

Patricia (Patsy) Ann Olsen, 79, of Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully on August 31, 2021. She was born in Washington, DC on October 7, 1941, the daughter of the late Frances and William Womersley, Jr.  Patsy always referred to herself as a “plain Jane”and was surprised when she caught the eye of a handsome man that had recently returned from military service.  She was instantly hooked and so was he.  In 1958, at the age of 16, she  married the love of her life, Edwin Olof Olsen Sr.  Together they built a simple, but beautiful life for themselves and their family.  Patsy devoted her life to being a homemaker and caregiver.  She pinched pennies when needed and learned to make 5-star meals on a dime store budget, crochet, sew, and even to do many home repairs herself.  Patsy found fulfillment in supporting, nurturing and teaching the people she loved.  She found humor in scaring anyone that was susceptible and joy in the eyes of playful children.  Although the family will seem incomplete without their matriarch, we rejoice in knowing she is reunited with her love, whom she has missed so deeply.

Patricia is survived by her children, Edwin Olsen Jr.; Patricia von Bokern; Timothy Olsen; Tammy West and Kameron Olsen; grandchildren, April; Shannon; Eric; Sarah;

 great-grandchildren, Noel; Ethan; Gage; Lexi; Natalie and Emma; her siblings Joyce Long and Robert Womersley; along with several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Edwin; and her grandson, Shane.

A funeral service for Patricia will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services on Monday, September 13 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 12 at Hiers-Baxley from 5:00 - 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS Association or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
