Obituary of James L. Altman
James L. Altman passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the age of 71 in The Villages, Florida.
Jim was born in McKeesport, PA to Harry and Lucy Altman. After graduation from high school and college, Jim went onto fulfill his life-long dream of becoming a Pennsylvania State Trooper. He retired as a Sergeant after 26 years of service. After retirement, he began a new career with the Washington County Sheriff’s department where he was a Captain for 14 years. Jim retired completely in 2013 and made a new home in The Village’s, FL where he was able to pursue his new passion – golf. Jim was known for his infectious laugh and smile and was loved and admired by so many who will miss him very much.
Jim was first and foremost a husband, father and grandfather and loved his family dearly. He is survived by his loving wife Pam of 50 years; his sons John of West Brownsville, PA, James (Melissa) of Chardon, Ohio, and Jason (Erinn) of Washington, PA and eight grandchildren; Jacob, Devan, Joshua, Kara, Kaitlin, TJ, Mia and Ayla; Brothers Harry (Helen), Gerald (Sadie), and William (LuLu). He was predeceased by his brother John (Cindy).
A memorial will be held in Washington, PA at a later time at the convenience of the family.
