Obituary of Robert Powell Mooney
Robert Powell Mooney Jr. (Robbie) transitioned from this life due to Covid on August 20, 2021. He was 50 years old. Robbie was born in Tampa, Florida on August 24, 1970. He moved to Lakeland, Florida at age 3, and then to Orange Park, Florida in 1981. He graduated from Orange Park High School and attended FSCJ.
Robbie is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Mooney, his sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Clint Hickox and his niece and nephew, Lauren and Ryan Hickox. He was predeceased by his father, Robert P. Mooney.
Robbie spent 25 years working in the restaurant industry. He especially loved the time he spent at The Hilltop Club, The Tree Steakhouse and Chophouse Thirteen, where he worked at the time of his passing. Robbie valued his loyal following of customers and considered them his friends. He was always outgoing and friendly and enjoyed the time he spent with his coworkers and the opportunity to get to meet new friends along the way.
Robbie loved sports and especially the Florida Gators and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Growing up he played youth soccer and was ecstatic when his Lakeland Fury team was invited to play during the halftime of the Tampa Bay Rowdies game in Buccaneer Stadium. He was a huge Gator fan but his love of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers began as a young boy and lasted his entire life. Getting to see them win the Super Bowl was the realization of a “Dream Come True!!!”
Robbie was kindhearted, fun loving, considerate and was always willing to help others. He was passionate about touching the lives of others and having a positive impact on everyone who was blessed to know him. He will be missed not only by his family, but his coworkers, customers and an amazing number of friends.
We Love You Robbie!!! Rest in Peace.
