Betti Macon

Obituary of Betti L. Macon

Ms. Betti L. Macon, age 58, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida after her courageous battle with cancer.

Betti was born on February 2, 1963 in Nassau, Bahamas. She came to the United States as a child with her family and settled in East Orange, New Jersey. Here she was raised and graduated from Montclair High School in 1981. She received her Associates Degree in Math from Marymount University and as a wife and mother of two boys, she moved to Florida and continued her higher education.

While earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ashford University (2014), she worked at the Department of Children and Family (DCF) as a diligent search specialist to help reunite parents with children. In 2016, she gained her Masters of Science in Psychology with Specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis from Capella University, using her degree to work in primary education as a teacher for austic children in Marion County.

Betti approached life with a creative touch, with a flare for fashion, sewing, gardening, and arts and crafts. As a young woman in high school she used to design and sew dresses for her mother, before dedicating her education and career to helping children. Her love of children was evident to everyone who knew her. She was an advocate for the voiceless, even calling her students “her kids,” and proudly saving their school pictures. Betti can only be described as a strong woman, with an unwavering faith; the core and heart of her family.

Betti is survived by her children, Logan and Austin, her parents Claudia and Pierre, and her four siblings.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life gathering on Saturday, August 21, 2021. The service starts at 1pm at Highland Memorial Park located at 1515 NE 3rd St, Ocala, FL.
