Obituary of Bernice Velda Lemmon
Bernice Velda Lemmon, 95, of Ft. McCoy, Florida passed away at her home on August 9, 2021. She was born June 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Raymond Charles Hurrell and Ethel Loretta Fryer Hurrell. Bernice was a native of McKeesport, Pennsylvania before moving to Hollywood, Florida in 1953. In 1946, Bernice married her loving husband, Walter, and together the two shared over 60 years of love and happiness before his passing in 2017. As a child, her passion was roller skating. After moving to Florida, she and Walt worked evenings and weekends at the skating rink passing out skates, making repairs, and helping kids learn the joy of skating. Through the years, Bernice enjoyed baking pies and pizzelles cookies, always sharing them with family and friends. Many beautiful projects were created by her hands, the last of which were houses that she stitched together using plastic canvas and yarn. It gave her great joy to share her creations with those that she loved. Bernice’s unconditional love and giving spirit has touched countless lives and will forever remain in our hearts.
Bernice is survived by her children, Raymond Lemmon, and Kathy (Larry) Berry; grandson Shane Berry, great-granddaughter Courtney (Kaleb) Christmas; and three great-great grandchildren, Camren, Carson, and Emaree, all of Ft. McCoy, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother.
