Obituary of JoEllen McClusky Sneed

JoEllen McClusky Sneed passed on July 4, 2021.  JoEllen was born in Birmingham,  Alabama on June 11, 1942.  She grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and attended the Mississippi State College for Women, and The University of Alabama. She met her husband, David Sneed, when they were neighbors at the same apartment complex in Birmingham.  They married in 1965, had two daughters, raised them in Ocala, Florida,and enjoyed 55 years together. JoEllen was an artist, and enjoyed showing her watercolors each year at various art shows, but especially FAFO in Ocala. JoEllen played on numerous tennis teams at Fort King Tennis Center, and played as often as possible. She managed her husband’s medical practice insurance claims and enjoyed traveling the country, and visiting with family after retirement. She loved college football, and especially enjoyed cheering on her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide.

JoEllen is survived by her husband of 55.5 years, Dr. David G Sneed, her daughters Mary L Sneed and Susan Sneed Elder (Matt), her three beloved grandchildren- Emily L Elder, Catie E. Elder, and Aidan D. Sneed, her sister Barbara Reeder, brothers Dan McClusky and David McClusky, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She fiercely and deeply loved her family.  Her unquenchable spirit will be sorely missed, and the family is so grateful to have been blessed with her guiding presence and abiding love.

A funeral service for JoEllen will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services (910 E Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470) on Friday, July 9 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until the time of the service. Burial to follow at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in JoEllen's name to Hospice of Marion County (3231 SW 34th Ave, Ocala, FL 34474) or Ocala First United Methodist Church (1126 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470).
