Obituary of Richard Lester Houghton

Richard Lester Houghton, 85, of Ocala, Florida passed away at home surrounded by family on June 22, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilynn; his children, Susan Bristol and Cheryl (Bill) Levine and their children and grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother Ken (Kathy) Houghton. His son Rick, preceded him in death in 2010.

Dick will be best remembered for his dedication to his family, dry humor and vast knowledge.

Born November 15, 1935, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Lester Orville and Gladys Marie (Williams) Houghton, he graduated from Michigan State University and worked in the automotive industry before moving to Florida in 1985.

Per Richard's request, his body will be donated to the University of Florida Shands Hospital for research purposes. Services will remain private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County. Online condolences may be sent to hiers-baxley.com.
