Obituary of Trudy Collins Boone

Trudy Collins Boone, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday May 21, 2021.

Trudy was the only child born to Guy and Jean (Canova) Collins on October 3, 1940. She grew up in Miami, graduated from Miami High and received a teaching degree from the University of Miami.

In 1962, Trudy married Gene Boone. They have two children, Paula and Kirk. Trudy taught elementary school for eighteen years and continued to mentor children after she retired from teaching. In 1976, she and Gene moved their family to Ocala and opened Foxfire Realty. At Foxfire Realty, she worked as a real estate agent, trainer and assisted in the growth of the relocation department.

Trudy was known for her generosity, sharp intellect, sense of humor and quick wit. She enjoyed searching and shopping for antiques. Many of her finds were used to decorate Foxfire’s historic building. While Trudy graduated from the University of Miami, the team she cheered for was the Florida Gators. Trudy’s greatest joy was her family. Trudy and Gene loved taking their grandchildren on vacations and adventures. She was purposeful about making family traditions and memories.

Trudy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Gene, 2 children, daughter Paula Chunn and son Kirk (Jodi) Boone, and 5 grandchildren, Austin Chunn, Melissa Chunn, Owen Boone, Bryce Boone and Collin Boone. She is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Jean Collins.

Trudy will be truly missed but never forgotten by those that she touched. A private family graveside service will be held at Highlands Memorial. In remembrance of Trudy’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Hospice of Marion County.
