Obituary of William (Bill) Kayackas
William (Bill) Kayackas of The Villages, FL, passed away April 20, 2021 at The Villages Cornerstone Hospice with his wife at his side. He was born September 1, 1934 in Cleveland, OH.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Helen Kayackas, his sister Ann, and his brother Joe.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Ann and his brother Jack and sister-in-law Betty.
Bill graduated from Benedictine High School in Cleveland, served in the Army during the Korean War and worked for the Uniform Division of the US Secret Service, serving under presidents Kennedy through Reagan. He served security details at the UN, Washington embassies, political candidates, and the White House. He travelled many times all over the world with the presidents providing security. He truly loved his job until the ravages of MS took over. He suffered greatly from 1986 until present. He loved to travel and spent much of his vacation time traveling the world with his wife. They traveled to England, Scotland, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, The Netherlands, the Soviet Union and Israel (the Holy Land). His favorite hobby was photography and was usually seen with a camera around his neck. He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Summerfield, FL.
There will be a wake service at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home on Wedgewood Lane on Sunday, May 2, 2021, from 2-4pm with prayer service at 4pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mark’s on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 10:00 o’clock. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
