Obituary of Doris E. Schaeffer

LADY LAKE – Doris E. Schaeffer, 90, passed from this life Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Born in Queens, New York she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Grohl.

Doris was a stay at home mother until her children grew up, and retired as a business owner, owning several businesses such as Montgomery Ward and JC Penny catalog stores, and Curves for Women.

Doris and her husband Frank moved to The Villages from Sidney, NY in 2011.  They both enjoyed the Villages camaraderie and lifestyle.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank and her son, Kenneth Schaeffer. Doris leaves behind her children, Alice Nagy and her husband James; Jessica Schaeffer; John Schaeffer; grandchildren; Melanie Mahran and her husband Jeff, Alicia Macica and her husband Glenn, James Nagy and his wife Brielle, Kara Schaeffer, Scott Fischer and his wife Ashley, Danny Schaeffer, Michael Schaeffer, Joanna DeWitt, Katie Blanch, Frankie Schaeffer and 13 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 22nd, 2021 at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  A committal service will follow at 2:00 PM in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg.
