Obituary of Fay L. Carlson

Fay L. Carlson, 81 of Ocala, FL passed away on Tuesday, February, 23, 2021. She was born on March 31, 1939 as Edith Fay Laster to James Gordon Laster and Edith Louise Laster in Winston-Salem, NC. She moved to Miami when she was 10 yrs old where she met Roy Einar Carlson. They were married in Miami, FL in 1958. Fay and Roy had 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She worked for FIU in the controllers of Rice for 18 years. She retired from FIU and then moved to Ocala, FL. Fay was predeceased by her husband, of 47 years, Roy Einar Carlson and her daughter Lori Gail Duncan (Valentine). Roy died of colon cancer in 2005 and Lori died of ovarian cancer in 2004. Survivors include her daughter Cindy Ann (and Stephen) Ross, son Timothy Roy Carlson. Grandchildren: Matthew Lee (and Pamela) Ross, Debbie Ann (and Matthew) Horton, Robert Charles (and Gabriela) Valentine, Mariah Sakorn (and Tristram) Markham, Rachel Ann Duncan, Timothy Shawn Carlson, and Shealynn Faye Carlson. Great Grandchildren: Olivia Rose Valentine, Claudia Gail Valentine, Callum Tristram Markham, Atticus Roy Markham, Kiernan Grey Markham. Fay loved her family, her dog Toby, Playing cards like Phase10 and Canasta, Crocheting of dolls and afghans and she really loved going to Miccosukee Bingo in Miami, when she moved to Ocala she found Dunnellon Bingo. Fay suffered with COPD for the last 10 yrs of her life and is what sadly took her life. Fay is being cremated and laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Ocala, FL with husband Roy and daughter Lori.
